We believe in transparency. Live Kirtan is designed to function with minimal data collection:

Non-Personal Data: We collect technical diagnostics and usage patterns (e.g., which channels are popular) via Firebase Analytics to improve the streaming experience and App stability.
Personal Data: The App does not require user registration. We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers unless you contact us voluntarily for support.
Identifiers: We use device-specific IDs for the sole purpose of delivering push notifications and personalized advertisements.

2. Permissions Explained

To provide a seamless experience, the App requires the following permissions on your Android device:

Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS)

Used to deliver the Daily Hukamnama Sahib, Nanakshahi Calendar updates, and important spiritual announcements directly to your device.

Background Media Playback (FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK)

Required to allow Kirtan and Radio stations to continue playing while you use other apps or when your screen is locked. This is essential for a continuous listening experience.

Storage (READ/WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)

Necessary for the "Recordings" feature, allowing you to save live Kirtan broadcasts to your device and share them. It is also used to temporarily save images when you use the share functionality in the "Daily Updates" section.

Internet & Network State

Used to fetch live streaming links, Gurbani data, and verify connectivity to prevent data loss during playback.

3. Community Data & API Attributions

Live Kirtan leverages incredible community-driven resources to bring Gurbani to your fingertips:

BaniDB: We utilize BaniDB for structured Gurbani text and search capabilities, specifically for the Hukamnama Sahib and Nitnem features.
SGPC: Official Live Kirtan audio streams from Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Daily Hukamnama Sahib, and Hukamnama Sahib Katha streams are consumed from the official SGPC website. If users wish not to use this App for these features, they can directly navigate to SGPC's website.

4. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party providers for infrastructure and monetization:

Google AdMob: Serves advertisements to keep the app free. AdMob may use device identifiers to show relevant content.
Firebase (Google): Used for crash reporting, performance monitoring, and secure notification delivery.

5. Disclaimer & Content Ownership

General Content: Most audio, image, and text content in Live Kirtan is sourced from publicly available internet resources. We respect intellectual property. If you are the owner of any content used and wish for it to be removed, please contact us.

Streaming Links: The App acts as a directory for third-party streaming links. We do not host or broadcast these streams directly. If any broadcast violates copyright, please notify us for immediate removal.

Radio Broadcasts: Live Kirtan acts as a directory for independent third-party radio channels. We do not manage, own, or control the broadcasting infrastructure or editorial content of these stations. Consequently, we are not responsible for the audio quality, uptime, or the specific content (including advertisements or announcements) broadcasted by these independent providers.

Hukamnama Sahib: While we strive for 100% accuracy in Gurbani text, we encourage users to refer to the Guru Granth Sahib Ji for absolute precision.

6. Compliance

This policy is designed to comply with global privacy standards, including the GDPR and CCPA, by ensuring users have control over their data and clear information on how their device resources are used.
